By train from Lisbon
Take the urban line from Lisbon Rossio station — direct to Sintra in 40 minutes. Trains run every ~20 minutes throughout the day. From Sintra station, the historic centre is a 15-minute uphill walk, or take bus 434 / 435.
By car
Sintra's historic centre has very limited parking. We recommend the public Parque Municipal de Sintra (5-min walk to the pub) or the Park & Ride at Portela de Sintra train station, then bus or train to the centre.
On foot from the train station
Follow Volta do Duche uphill (signposted to Palácio Nacional). About 12–15 minutes, mostly cobbled streets. Comfortable shoes recommended.

Palácio Nacional de Sintra (across the square), Quinta da Regaleira (15-min walk), Castelo dos Mouros (uphill walk or bus), Café Saudade and the artisan shops of Volta do Duche.
